A title-race test at Anfield, the Superclásico at La Bombonera and one final NWSL playoff place are packed into Sunday, November 1. Liverpool can pull within three points of Arsenal, Boca Juniors and River Plate renew Argentina’s defining club rivalry, and Seattle, North Carolina and Denver enter Decision Day separated by only three points.
Liverpool’s part of the weekend also extends a story Stadio has followed since the summer. Bradley Barcola’s Liverpool breakthrough showed several ways the forward can connect with Florian Wirtz and the runners around him. Arsenal now test whether that progress can survive against one of the Premier League’s strongest teams at a ground where the Gunners haven’t won a league match since 2012.
Saturday is almost as dense. Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund meet level on 17 points, Inter take a seven-point advantage over Milan into the Derby della Madonnina, and Club América host Toluca while leading Liga MX. América’s domestic pressure arrives after Club América’s all-Liga MX Leagues Cup run, a reminder of how quickly continental momentum can give way to a narrow league race.
Lille and Lens opened the weekend on Friday with the Derby du Nord. It closes Monday with Newcastle United and Everton meeting for the second time in four days. Everton won Thursday’s League Cup tie 3-1, so the final match on the board is already a rematch.

Lille vs. Lens · 4:05 p.m. ET
Lille went into the Derby du Nord third in Ligue 1, two points above seventh-place Lens. Lens had won three straight league matches, while Lille were unbeaten at home. Lens’ last league win at Lille came in April 2022. A rivalry shaped by regional identity now carries weight in the European race.

Manchester City vs. Brighton · 11 a.m. ET
A glance at the fixture list might suggest a routine home assignment for City. Brighton have avoided defeat in four straight Premier League meetings with City. City and Brighton rank first and second in expected goals, and Brighton lead the division with 23 goals.
City lost at Aston Villa in their last league match, then needed penalties to eliminate Brighton from the League Cup on Wednesday. Another Brighton result at the Etihad would move the story beyond an inconvenient matchup. It would strengthen the argument that Fabian Hürzeler’s team belongs close to the top of the table.
Bayern Munich vs. Borussia Dortmund · 1:30 p.m. ET
The Bundesliga lead is at stake. Both clubs have 17 points through seven matches and neither has lost.
Bayern have overwhelmed teams at the Allianz Arena, scoring 18 goals across their first three Bundesliga home games. Dortmund arrive with a different strength. They have recorded five clean sheets and conceded only four league goals. Bayern’s attacking volume meets the strongest defense in Germany, with first place available to Dortmund if they win.
AC Milan vs. Inter · 3:45 p.m. ET
Seven points separate the Milan rivals. Inter are unbeaten, have won four straight and lead Serie A. Milan are trying to recover after conceding four goals at home to Bologna.
Recent derby history still gives Milan a route into the match. Inter have been the stronger team across the opening months, but they haven’t consistently converted that superiority into control of their city rival. An Inter win would create both a wider league gap and a deeper psychological separation. Milan can prevent both in one night.
Club América vs. Toluca · 11:10 p.m. ET
América lead the Apertura with 28 points. Toluca are fifth with 23 and remain close enough to change the shape of the top group with an away win.
América’s position is strong without being secure. A convincing performance would restore some distance between the leaders and the teams behind them. Another home setback would carry into the final rounds and the Liguilla with far greater force.

Hearts vs. Hibernian · 10 a.m. ET
The Edinburgh rivals meet at Hampden Park for a place in the Scottish League Cup final.
The SPFL confirms this is the first League Cup semifinal between Hearts and Hibs. More than a century of rivalry has produced countless league games, cup ties and city arguments, but never this particular semifinal. One club reaches the final on December 13. The other watches its closest rival get there.
Liverpool vs. Arsenal · 11:30 a.m. ET
A home win would move Liverpool within three points of Arsenal. An Arsenal victory would stretch the difference to nine.
Anfield remains the harder part of the assignment. Arsenal are winless in their last 13 Premier League visits, drawing five and losing eight since their most recent victory there in the 2012-13 season. Liverpool don’t need another performance that merely suggests improvement. They need a result that places them back inside the title argument.
Boca Juniors vs. River Plate · 1 p.m. ET
La Bombonera hosts the latest Superclásico on Matchday 15 of the Torneo Clausura, with both clubs still carrying meaningful domestic ambitions.
The identities shaped by the players who forged Boca’s footballing history remain part of the occasion, but the rivalry renews itself through the current teams. Every generation needs its own goal, villain, goalkeeper, controversy or improbable hero.

River enter the match after beating Racing 1-0. Ángel Correa delivered the cross and Lautaro Rivero supplied the winning header, giving River a positive final image before the short trip across Buenos Aires.

The Superclásico rarely needs added stakes, but the current setting sharpens it. Boca host the match, River arrive with momentum and the result lands during the final stretch of the Clausura rather than in an isolated early-season round.
Copa do Brasil semifinals · 2 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. ET
Palmeiras host Vasco at 2 p.m. ET, followed by Grêmio against Atlético-MG at 4:30 p.m. ET.
Both are first legs. Atlético-MG and Vasco host the return matches the following weekend, so Palmeiras and Grêmio have the first opportunity to construct an advantage before leaving home. The eventual winners will meet in a single final in Brasília, a new format that leaves no second leg available to repair one bad night.
NWSL Decision Day · 5 p.m. ET
All eight NWSL matches kick off simultaneously, with one playoff place still open.
Seattle Reign occupy the eighth and final playoff place with 44 points. North Carolina Courage have 42. Expansion side Denver Summit have 41. Seattle qualify by beating Orlando Pride, while any other result brings the North Carolina-Denver match into the equation.
Jess Fishlock plays her final regular-season home match after 14 years with Seattle. A win would extend the club legend’s last season into the postseason.
In North Carolina, Ashley Sanchez enters the finale with 20 goals, tied with Temwa Chawinga for the NWSL single-season record. Her 21st could establish a new mark while helping the Courage overtake Seattle. One goal could alter both an individual record and the playoff bracket.
Monday, November 2
Newcastle United vs. Everton · 3 p.m. ET
Everton eliminated Newcastle from the League Cup with a 3-1 win on Thursday, then travel to St. James’ Park for the league meeting four days later.
The second game will reveal more than the first result. Newcastle have almost no time to correct what Everton exposed. Everton must prove the cup performance can survive the change of venue and competition.
By Monday night, the weekend may have changed title races in England and Germany, sent one half of Edinburgh to a cup final, tightened Liga MX, added another Superclásico memory and decided the NWSL postseason. The final rematch is an epilogue, but it isn’t an afterthought.
